The Pack Place — life in the wolf pack
We are so excited about 2013. Just a few days into the new year and already so much to look forward to- both personally and professionally. Our closest friends know the most thrilling news involves having our Daddy (and grandpa to almost 13 kiddos) home again in the very near future! Yay!! Not long after that comes the arrival of my brand new baby girl. Then Shannon's precious angel. Then (God willing) the sale of my home and the completion of a brand new one (including a shiny, new workshop). Spring and summer will bring gorgeous limited edition designs and a Preferred Pre-order Program aimed at minimizing our stress while offering a select, loyal following the ability to order in advance. W.D. Wolf also has plans to expand into home decor with the same simple, classic, slightly vintage style you've come to love. Excitement around every corner! We cannot thank you enough for your love and support during 2012. It has been a year full of wild growth and on-the-job training. We could not have done it without our hard-working husbands, understanding children, supportive friends & family, reliable production crews, and AMAZING fans. We love you all and look forward to an even better 2013. What are your big dreams for the new year? XOXO, Sarah & Shannon
We love magazines... The above photo is a snapshot of this month's subscriptions minus "Family Fun" and "Kiwi" which have already been read and recycled. I've never given it much thought before, but I think our reading choices say a lot about who we are and what we value. I also think our ideas and convictions are shaped (and reinforced) by the information we intentionally seek out. When I was a first time mom, I devoured every issue of "Parenting" magazine- especially soaking up information on discipline and raising responsible, thoughtful children. I skipped over the articles about sleep training. Thus, it should come as no surprise that 8 years later, my kids are (somewhat) well-mannered and (somewhat) sleep-deprived (oh wait... that's me!). Today, based on my family's selections, you can reasonably ascertain that we love pretty places (and very much value a lovely home- even better would be a home at the beach), we long to travel (on a dime), I like to cook (and dream of cooking more healthfully). We're interested in what makes a person or business successful. Our children like to "craft" and play... and we want to be on top of the current fashion trends. Oh- and Seth has a love affair with cigars. What do you read? Or do you have time to read anything at all? Do you agree that your reading choices paint an accurate picture of the things you value? XOXO- Sarah
Sometimes pictures tell a story that words fail to describe. Our vacation is going swimmingly, as Barbie and Ken would agree... Today started with an early morn storm. As rain pelted the roof and lightning flashed, I got the coffee started in our old-fashioned drip pot. Still dark outside, I drank my first cup in silence, enjoying the view of the Gulf from my window. Slowly, the bedraggled children wandered into the kitchen, ready for french toast and fresh strawberries. I wish every day could start that way. From there, it's been sunny and sweet: a Barbie pool party, a car wash, a muddy beach bash, and a scootch-a-thon. Good times! Now I'm waiting for UPS to deliver our Daydream Collection so I can spend the evening shipping (and sipping a few cold ones)! XOXO!
Much of our inspiration comes from our own life experience, doesn't it? My mom recently came over with the "gift" of several oversized cardboard boxes. She was "cleaning house" so to speak- finally clearing her closets of the treasures stored there for over 30 years. My loot consisted of four adolescent diaries, several scrapbooks, a handful of trophies, notes from classmates, dried flowers and pictures... lots of pictures. Looking through the old photos, I am reminded again that there really are no "new" ideas in design. It's our job to take the best ideas from the past and re-shape them into something better... I'm not crazy about any of these dresses as a whole, but I LOVE certain details in each one! I'm also loving the knee high socks! And the subtly coordinating sibling sets! There's a very good chance you'll see some of these ideas come to life again at W.D. Wolf... You won't see the permed hair. Sorry, mom! XOXO, Sarah
This weekend we celebrated my Jack's 6th birthday- cupcakes for breakfast and a homemade brownie cake after dinner (two layers of brownies smothered in real whipping cream). I cannot believe he is six. I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday... Such a sweet boy. A man's man with a sensitive soul, he has an obsession with bugs and isn't scared to hold any of them: stinging caterpillars, cicadas, spiders... He hates wearing shoes and loves wearing swimsuits to bed. He likes dinosaurs, super heroes and the color black. He is my Huck Finn and I am so proud of the little guy he's becoming. On Sunday afternoon, our neighborhood hosted the annual crawfish boil. I dressed Alice in the Grace ruffle bubble (always looking for an opportunity to show off!) and she was the belle of the boil... I think the feminine bubble looked even more precious on my little tomboy (covered in dirt and bearing scabs on her nose, knee and elbow). I hope your weekend was lovely, too. Have a happy Monday!
