Marguerite, our grandmother, was ahead of her time. This hardworking single mother was the epitome of grace, style, effortless beauty. She loved chocolate but insisted she hated "sweets". Creole tomatoes with mayo and salt were her favorite snack. Her house was shabby chic before it became a thing, with rustic wood floors, a slipcovered white sofa, and an ancient clawfoot tub.
She always reminded us of a cross between Katherine Hepburn and Dorothy McGuire: equal parts no-nonsense and nurturing. Innately fashionable with an air of understated elegance, Marguerite (aka: Gigi) was a force to be reckoned with. She gave of herself until the very end, holding a job into her eighties! We loved her for so many things, but her ability to give and give (and give!) with joy and void of expectation is her true legacy.
We hope you love this hardworking, versatile dress that makes us think of our grandmother!
As a side note: from the start we thought Marguerite's drop waist had a 1920's Daisy Buchanan vibe, and Marguerite means daisy in french! Meant to be. :)
Q. When will Marguerite ship?
Q. What are the differences between sizes (6M - 8Y) and (9/10 and 11/12)?
Q. Can you provide some fit suggestions?
A. We find Marguerite to run slightly generous in the width. The short length makes it great for a short dress or a tunic. Please see the fit photos on facebook and on the Marguerite listing. Model is 39 pounds and 43 inches tall and can wear 2T as a tunic, 3T as a short dress or longer tunic, and 4T as an easy fit dress. Sleeve is on trend with the season's statement bell, meant to hit below the wrist at full length. Size down for a shorter sleeve. Please see size chart for overall length.
